I pray for you
That as you plunder the public till
Your heart would be beating still
For you to eat your crime thrift


I pray for you
That as you disvirgin others' daughters
Yours will reach puberty 
Before being raped by your kind


I pray for you
That as you stone your heart
To the pleas of your subordinate
You will survive venom of their grouse


I pray for you
That as you steal from others
Your life will not in turn, too
Be stolen by the ultimate paymaster


I pray for you
As you pride yourself in conceit
You will not grow a cockrel's tunic
And a peacock's rainbow ass


I pray for you
As you preach your lies
You will not soon begin
To seriously doubt your own truths


I pray for you
That if you are a culprit
In the mass murder of innocents
Your carcass would be massed by vultures


I pray for you
As you reap the labours of your murdered victims
Your tongue shall revolt
And you will choke on your vomit


I pray for you
That if you think I like you
For being a nauseous insatiable glutton
You will soon explode like a terror grenade


I pray for you
That I will continue to pray for you
To either change for the better
Or get yourself Herod's comeuppance!

Learning Deutsch

The first time we arrived purposely to learn German, we were so enthusiastic. For me, I haven't really sat down to learn a new language, perhaps because there are no formalised institutions for learning Nigerian languages as in Germany. And that strikes me as odd! No one seems to have discovered that we could actually create formalised outlets for learning some, if not all, of our 250 languages. If that had existed, I could have spent time learning good Hausa formally in the six years that I spent teaching in Gombe.  But again, there is yet another snag: why would one pay, sometimes heavily, to learn a language that perhaps has little or no global presence? People have been learning German, French, Spanish and Portuguese, and they are now learning Chinese even in Europe. Why?
