Difficult Things For Humans To Do

Just running a list of difficult things for humans, and it is a shocker for me to discover an unbelievable pattern. On my list, I have a number of things including: On personal level, It is difficult to find an honest person, To find a good spouse, To find a true friend or lover who is selfless and dedicated, To tell the truth, To admit that you are wrong and the other right, To concede that another person's mother cooks better than yours, To accede with your lecturer that you truly failed an exam, To admit one's ugliness, To publicly concede the fact that the other person is better, To be selfless in that you think of others first, To agree to be the fallguy for someone else's mistakes, The list goes ... On the national level, it is difficult for leaders to be liked when in power, Difficult to use public wealth for public good, Difficult for leaders to admit a wrong, Difficult for rulers not to think of self-perpetuation in power, Difficult for them to

If I were a murderer …

They often say, “Human life is sacrosanct, It is precious;” And I wish to add, It is irreplaceable. Isn’t it rather sad that the one’s who kill the most And the most unlikely to give life? I have often wondered what chemical make-up The murderer has that he or she would just Get up and gun or machete another down As if he or she, by a wave of the hand Can bring back that life. Isn’t it an irony that nations that are least likely To have a natural disaster of tsunami proportions Are the most prone to pre-meditated genocidal killings? If every kind should kill its other: Women killing men, Our mothers would have lynched the life out of us at birth Old killing young, Our parents would have finished us before we could talk Doctors killing lawyers Our doctors would have ensured we don’t leave hospital beds alive How many of us would be alive? Yet, the armed robber weighs his or her quest for material things Higher than the life of the owner of the property The “

For my friend, on her birthday…

On her BBM, she wrote: “It’s not about the years in your life, but the life in your years.” I’ve been trying to unknot the hidden truths Encoded in these words But I must admit that I am not that intelligent. My friend, used distance to wriggle out of Committing to fete me on her birthday But, I am compelled to wish her a happy birthday With people like you, I see the benefit Of FB in binding us together across Ethno-religious divide And making us understand others better I call her my greatest critic Because she once called my attention To one misguided comment I made on FB And since then, I have come to value The importance of considering “other” views On your birthday, even without hope of tasting the cake I wish you a long, fruitful life May you know peace in your home and all around May our nation see peace once again And become prosperous Happy birthday, my friend And do have a pleasant new year!

What We Love Together

Saw on Al Jazeera, sometime in the past, a group of youths in Iran, attacking diplomatic missions of the West, wearing Chelsea jerseys. Isn't that an irony? We all love European football clubs: Man U., Chelsea, Arsenal, Barca, Real Madrid, et cetera. We wear their jerseys proudly whether praying to God, Allah or Bhudda; When we pray Facing the Kabba, the altar, or nature. We stay glued to our Western-built cable-enabled plasma/smart TVs, Watching mainly Western footballers, loving them: the merciless Messi, for example Not minding his religion, his race, his language We love him, Some hate him Only because they love a different team. What if our divisions are only based on the teams we support? What if we extend our suspension of religious differences beyond the 90 minutes it takes a Messi to titillate our love for the round leather game? What if our nationality and creed are determined by the teams we support? Maybe life would have been better Maybe we would have

Why Are Women Everywhere?

For fear of being misunderstood, I am not a chauvinist! I love and respect women! I believe that women are as human as men and therefore should be respected and treated equally. I will also add that women should also respect themselves more Because oftentimes, woman's inhumanity to woman is worse than man's inhumanity to woman! Those said, I ask again, why are women everywhere? Facebook, Twitter, BBM, Linkedin, Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk, Samsung Chat, 2Go, Everywhere you look, women are just popping up and taking over! Do we have more women than men? If so, is that not a rule of the minority over the majority? They are everywhere, yet not for everyone They are seen all around, and like flowers Each of them is only ripe for one honest man There are bad ones. though Those whose beauty last for a while And are easily discarded by the philanderers that Deflower them Women are everywhere But good, valuable ones are scarce Because they are visible like sun
