Now that the Strikes Are Over for Now ...

I speak for myself, me alone!
I do not represent anyone but my little self
So keep an open mind. Please!

The leadership of my country must have been overwhelmed by the massive protests that greeted their insensitive and ill-conceived re-regulation of the downstream sector of the oil industry.
Who would have thought that the almost-always-easily-polarised Nigerian masses could amass such strength in unit?
And as usual, they came up with so many conspiracy theories:
"It is the cabal that is financing the protests!"
And when it did not work, they came with another:
"Hoodlums and those who failed in the elections have/will hijack the protests to cause mayhem ..."
And with that, soldiers left the barracks for the streets.
The government has to maintain security, law and order, blah blah blah!

Who is fooling who?

Now before we knew what hit us, pump price of fuel shot up from 65 naira to 97 naira ...
And I thought that if they ever did that, the nation will collapse?
Why does our government always do the right things last? And the wrong ones first?
Someone will tell me that it's trial and error ... for crying out loud, should it have been happening from the day the British forcefully threw us together and RULED us as different peoples?

Now that the strikes are over, GEJ should not deceive himself that they are gone for good!
Nigerians have simply given him another benefit of the doubt!
Word of advice, your excellency ...

Throw all the people that advised you on this fuel issue out because there is no guarantee that your guesses will be right in the future.
You cannot rule Nigerians successfully without their input!
People are wiser. People are more informed. It is a different age from those of IBB and Abacha! If you doubt it, hand over to IBB now for a week and you will see there will be no manoeuvre space for his reputed Maradonic abracadabra.

ASUU is still there ... a hanging issue! Do right by Nigerians! Consult more! Listen more to the people and less to the politicians. If you want to hear our voices, go to social media because we are always here 24/7. And, lest I forget, do something about this insecurity!

Nigerians are watching! Any other slip, like this one, may not be very favourable.
Go ask Gaddafi. He fought against the people and lost!

I wish you well, sir!
