I have tried to get an answer
But all to no avail.  

Didn't one country predict that Nigeria will collapse by 2015? 
And rather than do something positive 
Our leaders condemned the speaker and their people.

Gadaffi, of blessed memory (still hard to believe),
Once said something too about the state of affairs of Nigeria
What did they do?
They condemned him.
Told him to shut up if he didn't have anything to say.

Some people accused Nigeria of harbouring terrorists
What did they do again?
Denial. Full face, denial even with the capture of the under-wear bomber

What did we do?
As a people, we believed them
They told us that nothing was happening
That all is well
That we should go about our normal businesses
That they are on top of the situation

And we, unwittingly made the greatest mistakes of our existence
Believed people who do not believe themselves!

Now we have seen it
They cannot even protect themselves 
And they still tell us the same lies we have always believed.

I don't know for you
But I have ceased to believe their lies
I refuse to follow them again
I refuse to joint their wagon
I have freed myself from the jargon they fill us with...

I now believe one thing
The very reason we are been mowed down
And that is this:

THEY DON'T REALLY CARE ABOUT US!

That is why when we are busy dying
They are busy "feeling our pains"
For the discomfort of going to commiserate
With their kind for our deaths
That they do not care about!

Learning Deutsch

The first time we arrived purposely to learn German, we were so enthusiastic. For me, I haven't really sat down to learn a new language, perhaps because there are no formalised institutions for learning Nigerian languages as in Germany. And that strikes me as odd! No one seems to have discovered that we could actually create formalised outlets for learning some, if not all, of our 250 languages. If that had existed, I could have spent time learning good Hausa formally in the six years that I spent teaching in Gombe.  But again, there is yet another snag: why would one pay, sometimes heavily, to learn a language that perhaps has little or no global presence? People have been learning German, French, Spanish and Portuguese, and they are now learning Chinese even in Europe. Why?
