Anambra Election and the Parable of the Headhunter
The much-awaited Anambra election has come and gone
The aftermath is a trail of lies, accusations and double-speak
Lying underneath are greed, treachery and betrayal
The APGA candidate: he has nothing to say
Having won 16 of the 21 LGAs, it is just a matter of time
Before he is declared winner by INEC
The LP billionaire-candidate: he has so much to say
For him he won hands down in his LGA, Nnewi North
And because of that his LGA is the only place
That voting was free and fair
His major demand: INEC should cancel the entire thing
And, wait for it, REFUND his expenses...
As if anyone forced him to start sharing his wealth
The APC senator-candidate: he is furious
He has been "rigged" out by people who hate Anambra
As such, the entire election should be cancelled
Notwithstanding that his initial stance was that
Elections should be re-scheduled in Idemili North alone
Now, INEC has to cancel the entire thing or else
The PDP godson-candidate: he is singing a different tune from his party's
Hear him: "Maurice Iwu is better than Attahiru Jega."
Hmmm! In what I ask? Rigging elections, I suppose!
When I look at the utterances of these desperate people
I am convinced that none of them bears any good thing in mind
For Ndi Anambra that they so disturbingly mention during campaigns
For me, they are very bad losers
He shamelessly rigged elections in 2003 and ruled Anambra illegally
For 30 months until he was thrown out by the courts
Now, he does not even have the decency to wait for the courts
The same ones that Peter Obi so painstakingly and patiently
Patronised until his mandate was restored!
For someone whose only political allies are from outside the state
I wonder where his loyalty will be if he mistakenly gets into
The Government House again?
Forget the noise that Onitsha and Idemili people are making for him,
He is a cunning fellow who finds it very difficult to keep his word
How then can he deliver on Anambra?
I don't even want to remember his friend El-Rufai
And his meddlesome inglorious visit to Anambra when he is
Neither a registered voter nor accredited election observer in the state
And yet, he wanted to be allowed to roam round the state freely
When every other citizen was holed between his or her house
And the nearest polling unit
I don't want to remember the suspects caught by police,
Allegedly imported from APC states of Osun and Imo
Some of whom bore arms.
It is noteworthy that unlike his usual social media rantings
About when the incumbent is defecating or taking a leak
He was overtly silent over those incidents
Now, the elections are over and he is complaining that the police
Initimidated voters!
For real? Or did they scare their hired hands away?
My take: I don't trust him with Anambra and am sure God doesn't too!
He is simply like a headhunter who does not allow others to go behind him
With a machete, for fear of losing his own head.
Even if INEC cancels the elections a hundred times,
He will never concede defeat!
And to think that after all his professed popularity
That he could only get two LGAs?
My advice, sir: Go back and serve out your senatorial tenure
And prepare for your retirement
Because even your townsmen will not return you there
To continue erecting VIP toilets on their land!
As for the LP candidate!
You want your expenses refunded?
That's the most absurd thing I have ever heard from any politician.

What would have happened to your expenses if you had won?
