Why do they always die in London?

I am appalled, my country has become a country with the highest number of "heroes" on the planet. Everyone that dies is officially extolled as being patriots. Am not surprised because even at the centenary celebrations, the GEJ government gave merit awards to people who we honestly do not want our wards to emulate. And with these deaths also, everybody is a hero ... and what are the criteria?

1. You must be rich
2. You must have been in/close to government
3. You must have stolen the nation blind
4. You may belong to the ruling party
5. You must be an elder statesman even when your age mates are youth leaders in the same party
6. You must die in London; or at least, don't make the mistake of dying in Nigeria

Once you possess any of these, even your victims must find religious or ethnic grounds to exonerate you of all your crimes while alive and then re-direct their accusations to someone else especially the incumbent. And what is that one doing? Pardoning condemned criminals like his former boss, accepting a condemned criminal back into the ruling party (I saw him dancing beside the party stalwarts at Ekiti) - before we forget, one day that one will die and his patriotism will be sung to the high heavens.

I like what Professor Adesanmi wrote about Umaru Dikko on FB this morning. We as a nation and a people have selective amnesia - pardon my French. This is the same Transport Minister who bragged that there is no hardship in Nigeria because we aren't feeding from the refuse dumps yet. The same one that one honest dictator crated and was going to smuggle back to Nigeria to answer for his crimes before the monies he stole from his people in Favour of the British started working for him. I remember when he returned. He was treated like a hero. Whose hero, if I may ask?

I do not wish him ill, I only wish him what he wished Nigerians through his actions and words while alive! I am not concerned about him. He is dead now, just like every other of his ilk still parading him or herself in the corridors of power. They are Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Ijaw; majority, minority; Christian, Muslim, Traditionalist, Atheist. These ones have no God, no Allah, no Ogun, et al ... The only recognize one divinity - money! They don't care about the people, even those who slavishly and foolishly follow them. They are no patriots! They are no heroes!

They are simply villains!

Please, somebody should help us tell this government to stop insulting our intelligence by dubbing miscreants, heroes. We know the long list of high profile deaths we have has this year. We know the villains and the heroes among them. The government can regret the death of any of its citizens, but please and please they should not insult us by telling us the opposite of what we know them to be. Am not talking about the most recent death, but also about so many others before it all over the country. And even before you starts calling them heroes, somebody should remember that some people prayed that all the secret sponsors of terrorism should die. Since then people have been dying in the east, west, north and south .... I didn't accuse anybody of anything. We do not know what we do not know. But the way this thing is going, there may be many more high profile deaths before the year runs out.

One last thing, why do they always dies in London? After spending time in government, you were not able to have a decent health facility in your locality? What other criteria do we need to judge non performance? Is London their Father's house?

O gwula ka o ha m n'onu!
